Public safety is foundational to strong communities, thriving businesses, and stable families. This page reviews violent crime trends across Assembly District 51 cities and outlines legislative actions needed to restore accountability, protect single-family neighborhoods, and support effective law enforcement.

Stability.
• The US violent crime rate (black line) has remained stable, with a slight recent decline.
• Between the 2015-16 baseline and the most recent 2023-24 period, Santa Monica has the greatest increase in violent crimes – over a whopping 50% increase.
• West Hollywood remains our most violent city.
• Beverly Hills does the best job in crime prevention. It’s the city with the largest percentage of Republican voters and the only city with elected Republican city council members in addition to Democrats. They have worked together effectively to control crime.
• Note: 2021 does not appear because in 2020-21 the FBI was revising both its website and its crime reporting methodology. This resulted in a number of cities either not reporting or reporting incomplete or inaccurate data. This had little or nothing to do with Covid and may also account for the trend aberration in the 2020 Santa Monica and West Hollywood numbers.

The first thing that must happen: California voters unite to elect a Republican Governor and break the Democrat veto-proof supermajorities in the State Legislature.
There are currently 60 Democrat and 20 Republican members of the State Assembly. To break the supermajority we need to increase the number of Republicans to at least 27. In the State Senate the split is the same: 30 Democrats and 10 Republicans. We need to elect at least 14 Republican Senators. Numerically it’s less challenging, but as State Senators serve 4 instead of 2 year terms, only half will be running for reelection this year.
Crime prevention, effective law enforcement and a responsible criminal justice are mostly in the hands of municipal and county government, but our Governor and our legislature can help. Four areas where the Governor and the legislature are hindering neighborhood safety and quality:
1. Using SB 9, then when it was ruled unconstitutional, in 2025 passing SB79 mandating cities destroy single family neighborhoods by allowing construction of mid to high rise apartment buildings within a half mile of mass transit line such and bus routes and train lines. In other words, in virtually all single family neighborhoods. Worse, to entice developers, cities can offer incentives like exemptions from setback, height and parking requirements in exchange for developers including taxpayer-subsidized low income housing units in their projects.
2. Mandating how many of taxpayer-subsidized low income housing units each city must provide, or be subjects to various penalties.
3. Introducing SB 549 authorizing the City or County of LA to purchase the property of the Palisades fire victims for the purpose of building taxpayer-subsidizes low income housing. This bill will guarantee the Palisades will never be restored to its greatness as one of the world’s most desirable communities. Incredibly local outgoing Democrat State Senator is the sponsor of this horrific bill.
4. Passing legislation that entices homeless people and illegal aliens to come to California. This includes but is not limited to Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP and other welfare benefits for non-citizens, housing subsidies and driver’s licenses for non-legal residents, non-cooperation with our federal government in the enforcement of federal law.
I will do everything possible to reverse all of this harmful legislation.
Neighborhood safety is not accidental. It requires strong local governance, responsible state legislation, and policies that prioritize families over special interests.
When crime prevention, zoning policy, and accountability are aligned, communities thrive.
We owe it to our families and future generations to get this right.

Biological males competing in women’s sports undermines decades of progress toward fairness and equal opportunity. Women deserve privacy, safety, and competitive integrity. We must restore protections in athletics, scholarships, and women-only spaces.

California ranks near the bottom in national proficiency scores despite ranking near the top in income and taxes. Our children deserve classrooms focused on academics — not activism. We must restore curriculum standards, mandate accountability, and prioritize math, science, and literacy.

California has one of the highest per capita homeless populations in the nation. Billions have been spent with little measurable success. Compassion without accountability has failed. We must fund treatment, job training, and housing — with strict performance requirements.

Housing, gas, utilities, and food costs continue to rise. Government-induced regulations and taxation have made California one of the least affordable states in the nation. We must reduce regulatory burdens, control spending, and lower the tax load on working families.

California ranks last in U-Haul migration trends as companies relocate to business-friendly states. As employers leave, the tax burden grows on those who remain. We must reverse hostile regulatory policies and create an environment that attracts investment and job growth.

Recent legislation allows life-altering medical decisions involving minors without parental consent. Parents must retain authority over the health and upbringing of their children. We must restore transparency, consent protections, and remove ideological activism from schools.

If you believe Los Angeles deserves practical reform, measurable outcomes, and leadership grounded in research and experience, I invite you to take the next step.
